At Two Rivers Marketing, we emphasize the importance of relationships — we believe that’s what the 2 in B2B marketing stands for. But “owning the 2” is more than just a clever play on our name. Building real connections is an important part of our agency culture — and we’re very, very good at it. During a majority of the time during the COVID-19 pandemic, our associates have been working from home. However, that doesn’t stop us from encouraging and supporting each other — and having a whole lot of fun. Here are some of the ways we do that.

Greetings and well wishes

When a fellow associate has a birthday or is ill, the entire staff writes personal messages in a virtual greeting card that is then sent electronically. Check out one of our favorite platforms, GroupGreeting. And since many in our agency have mad video skills, we enjoy putting together funny video greeting cards. When one associate celebrated the big 4-0 this year, his team organized a drive-by surprise birthday party. Other team members spread the 2RM love by dropping off gift baskets to celebrate a husband’s return from military deployment and their friend completing chemo.

Focused on family

Many Two Rivers Marketing associates are working parents, and agency leadership recognizes the unique challenges they face juggling childcare, virtual school, and work during the pandemic. In May, 2RM created Mother’s Day craft kits for kids and associates drove through the agency parking lot to pick them up safely.

Getting involved

Serving our community is non-negotiable — even a pandemic can’t stop Two Rivers Marketing from giving back. We typically do several internal fundraising events each year. In 2020, we took philanthropy virtual. We held an online silent auction of items and services donated by associates and raised $6,845 to benefit these local charities: AHeinz57 Pet Rescue, DMARC, Ronald McDonald House, and Urban Dreams.

Social hour

If there was ever a year to imbibe, 2020 was IT. (Heck yes!) Our agency typically holds Rec Thursdays the last Thursday of the month where associates hang out together while enjoying food and adult beverages in our office’s recreation area. During the pandemic, we switched to virtual team events held via Google Meet. We enjoy seeing each other’s faces, celebrating a birthday or special event, watching pets and children make cameo appearances, and lifting our glasses in a virtual toast to the pure awesomeness of local food delivery and online shopping.

Celebrating the holidays

2020 put enough on everyone’s holiday cookie plate to make even Santa snap. To bring a little comfort and joy, our annual gift exchange was replaced by a virtual Secret Santa. Associates mailed or did a stealth porch drop-off of their gifts before revealing their identities to recipients.

Friendly competition

We’re a competitive bunch — give us the chance to win a Starbucks gift card and we’re in. To keep our creative juices flowing, the agency held virtual contests where associates shared photos of their WFH space, pumpkin carvings, and holiday decorations — and shared “Your Most Embarrassing Google Meet Moment.” (Shout out to Katie Brown’s child, who decided to hold his own Google Meet with his mother’s team.)

Making it work

Two Rivers Marketing is focused on relationships — with our clients, our community, and each other — every day of every year. When we look back at the pandemic, the thing we will remember most is the people who helped us get through it. That’s what relationships are all about.
